Housing Reform

Negative Gearing to be grandfathered and limited only to new housing. Foreign ownership of single detached homes or land purchases to be prohibited.

  1. Revert the NCC back to 2009 levels to reduce input and new home deliverable costs. The newest specification adds more than 25% to the cost of housing to facilitate excessive accessibility and energy efficiency that exceed functional requirements.
  2. Home and land packages will be limited to a total of 20% in taxes across all three levels of government to deliver more affordable homes.
  3. Pre-approve 500 engineered home designs that can be built in any location around the country, provided they meet AS 1170 Series design rules including wind specifications. Designs will be reviewed every 3 years to ensure suitability and alignment with market expectations.
  4. Expedited 2-week approvals for certifier, council, or DA requirements for these 500 designs.
